最後一個(組)就用the，還沒提到最後一個(組)就用another或other。
- I have 2 good friends. One is Mary. The other is Mandy.
- I have 3 good friends. One is Mary. Another is Mandy. The other is Joan.
- I have 10 classmates. Some live in Taipei. The others live in Taichung.
  (說明：10個同學只住兩個地方)
- I have 10 classmates. Some live in Taipei. Some others live in Taichung. The others live in Tainan. (說明：10個同學分別住在三個地方)
another及other可以當代名詞，也可以當形容詞。上方的例句裡的都是代名詞。若改成形容詞用法如下：
